A little bit about me

Had touble finding one good picture of me so here are nine bad ones.

Had touble finding one good picture of me so here are nine bad ones. This is me being happy, angry, young, dead, serious, hairless, a dolphin, old and finally my toes in Flatey island.

Thordur Matthiasson

Kopavogur, Iceland

The really short version

I’m a 32 year old family man, computer scientist and game designer with 15 years of professional experience in most fields of information technology, especially software engineering, and a lifetime of enthusiasm for those magical machines we call computers as well as amateur experience in game design, gaming theory (not to be confused with the mathematical discipline of game theory) and game writing, development and production.

Aspirations

First and foremost I’m going to be the world’s greatest dad (I’ve got books!) and a super husband but when I grow up I’m going to be a computer game designer and producer.

Family

I am married to the lovely Heidrun Berglind Finnsdottir, editor, columnist and independent author, and together we have been blessed with two beautiful daughters, Anna Hrefna who now resides in heaven watching over mommy and daddy and Athena Katrin who was born 9th April 2010 and is currently keeping daddy’s sleep-pattern really interesting.

Interests

  • Everything to do with computers and the internet especially computer games and game design.
  • Mathematics, physics and astronomy (yes… really!).
  • Social & behavioral psychology. I’m mesmerized by the unseen strings of our subconscious that control so much of who we are and what we do.
  • Graphics, both computer and hand made. I draw, paint, color, design and so on and so forth. I’m especially fond of drawing dragons for some reason. :)
  • Books, movies & theater.

Other Stuff

  • I am thorough and organized, a quick study and I love to (and constantly need to) learn and try out new things.
  • In the 2009-2010 school year I instructed 5th to 8th grade children in the Reykjavik University sponsored Olympian Mathematics.
  • After my graduation in may 2010 I was offered a part time position at Reykjavik University teaching algorithm lab classes.
  • I have worked with the Hallvardur Sugandi Drama Club as a board member, stage designer, webmaster, project manager, producer and actor in various productions since 1998.
  • I can play the guitar (at least well enough for my daughter to cheer me on).
